SOUTHLAND POWER BOARDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, June 30. The agreement between Hay and Viekerman, Englis and the Southland Power Board, has been terminated by mutual arrangement. The future construction, administration and supervision will be carried out by the board’s engineer, who will be appointed when a loan is obtainable. ALLEGED PILLAGING. Christchurch, June 30. In giving judgment for plaintiff at the Magistrate’s Court to-day in the case in which T. Perry, boot merchant, claimed £27 17s 8d on account of alleged pillage of a case, Mr. M'Carthy, S.M., said that if the Railway Department, after retaining the goods in its possession nine days could escape its liability on the grounds that it had failed to supply a tally clerk and refused to sign a consignment note, no one’s good would be 6afe.
