There was a large attendance of the nubile to witness the game, which was evenly contested all through, and the final scores of one goal each was a fitting result on the day’s play. Considering that the New Plymouth eleven only met for tte first time on Tuesday night, and that many of them had not played the game for over ten years, they put up a very creditable performance. With training and practice they should be able to more than hold their own. Mr. L. H. Dawson refereed. After the match the New Plymouth Club entertained the visitors to afternoon tea. Mr. L. B. Webster occupied the chair. The chairman heartily welcomed the sailors to New Plymouth, and remarked on the clean and clever exhibition put up by both teams Messrs. Roper, Dawson, the chief engineer, and the captain of the team also spoke in the same strain, and a pleasant and enjoyable day was brought to a close with cheers for the Peshawur and New Plymouth players.
