TARANAKI RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF MANAGEMENT i COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union i- was held at Stratford last night, when t there were present: Messrs. Jas. Q Horowhenua Rugby Union wrote e pointing out that Taranaki owed them e a match, and asked that a match be □r played when on tour.—Held over. Owing to the South African match the 1 Wanganui-Taranaki match will be play.l ed at Stratford on July 28 instead of t July 14. Mr. Honore was authorised to arrange - for a representative match between the j Taranaki and Wanganui primary , schools. f THE SOUTH AFRICAN VISIT. s The chairman pointed out that in view of the altered sailings of the Australian _ boats and the probability of the South r African team arriving at Auckland in- . stead of Wellington, it was not yet cer- } tain that the South African match . would be played on July 16. He had, » however, communicated with the New ; Zealand Rugby Union suggesting that » the date should be adhered to. It was f stated that arrangements for the match > and entertainment of the visitors were ! well in hand. > It was resolved that the team to meet . the South Africans should assemble in i New Plymouth on the Monday evening i prior to the match for training. Mr. • G. E. J ago was appointed manager of , the Taranaki team, and Messrs. A. L. • Humphries and C. Brown will be asked , to take charge of the coaching. i PROTESTS, ETC. Midhirst protested against Toko Juniors being awarded the match played on Saturday, on the grounds that they • played Kerison, a member of the Strathmore Club. It was resolved that the Union give a ruling in the case of clubs playing two or more teams in the same ■ grade that a player may not play for more than one team’ in the same grade without obtaining a transfer. This applies particularly to Stratford and Clifton Clubs, which have sub-districts with junior teams. It was also resolved that the match be re-played. S. Day, reported by A. H. Holmes for tripping in the Opunake match, was warned. AN OHURA TEAM. Mr. Abraham waited on the union on [ behalf of the Ohura Sub-Union of the i King Country Union, and stated that I the players for the hinterland wished , to play three matches against Taranaki teams in the week following the South African match. They suggested matches against teams at Hawera, Stratford, and New Plymouth. As the tour would cost £lOO, they suggested that the union should give them half the gate. It was resolved to play the team against a B team at Eltham on Thursday, July 21, and Kaponga, at Stratford, on Saturday, or in the alternative, a match against Stratford on Thursday, July 21, at Stratford, and * Kaponga, at Eltham, on July. 23, giving them the whole of the gates, less expenses, with a guarantee of £l5O. GENERAL. In connection with the death oi Chas. Wm. Beck, at Patea, the referee forwarded an account of the inquest, together with a rider by the jury recommending that the Rugy Union should have all players examined by a medical man at the beginning of the season, jund that a first-aid outfit be kept on all football grounds in charge of a competent person. It was resolved to express the condolence of the union with the deceased player’s relatives, In connection with the union’s request for an explanation from tn* Okaiawa Club re playing B. Roberts after that player had played for Okato, the Okaiawa Club wrote stating that they had not received any communication from the union on the question, and disclaimed any intention ol discourtesy.
