FARM AND DAIRY.
SALE OF GOODWOOD PEDIGREE JERSEYS. A reminder is given of the sale of Mr. E. Griffiths’ herd of pedigree Jerseys at the farm, near Cambridge, on June 29. Speaking of the splendid catalogue issued, an exchange says: “The cover page is ornamented w,ith the. heads of two beautiful prize-winning daughters of the imported bull Viola’s Golden Laddie. A number of photos of the stock to be sold are printed with the catalogue, and of these two striking ones are of the two cows responsible for man,’ descendants in the sale—viz., Mercedes Noble Queen, tile imported cow with a C.O.R. of 6291 b fat in 273 days, and Lady Peggy, the gold medal winner, with a C.O.R. of 7251 b fat. Bright Sultan, the imported bull, bv which most of the heifers are in calf,'is represented by an excellent illustration. The pedigrees of each lot are freely tabulated, each lot having a full page. There are 91 pages atogether. The merest Jersey breeder novice call at a glance gain full and complete information'about each animal, and one would be dull who could not appreciate the remarkable collection of wonderful animals to be offered Breeders may be prepared for a surprise when they see the quality of the sons and (daughters of Viola’s Golden Laddie. The seventy odd animals to be offered will be sold without reserve, and Jersey men will doubtless take advantage of tills ’opportunity of securing animals of a quality that is rarely on the market.
