UNEMPLOYMENT IN DUNEDIN. • By Telegraph.—Press Association, Dunedin, June 25. The Mayor of Dunedin has advised I the Minister of Labor that unemployment is increasing and included over a hundred returned soldiers. He considers the camps being provided by the Government arc unsuitable for married men and suggests foreshore railway deviation work. SUICIDE AT SUNNYSIDE. Christchurch, June 25. Walter Bracerwell, an inmate of Sunnyside mental hospital, committed suicide yesterday by hanging. Deceased was tried at Auckland in 1904 on a charge of attempted murder and found insane. Ho was committed to Avondale menial hospital and transferred to Sunnyside in 1916. A BOOKMAKER FINED. Wellington, June 25. A fine of £lOO was to-dav inflicted i)V Mr. Hunt, S.M., on Reginald John Davis on a charge of using the bar of the Occidental Hotel as a common gaming house. The penalty for default was fixed at three months. On a second charge of laying totalisator odds Davis was convicted and discharged. A third charge of carrying on business as a bookmaker was withdrawn.
