Onions,— £1 10s to £2 10a. AUSTRALIAN GOLD EXPORTED. New York, June 23. The National City Bank has announced that 350,009 dollars of gold are expected to arrive from Australia at the end of next month. ADDINGTON STOCK SALE. VALUES WELL MAINTAINED. Christchurch. June 22. r At the Addington market to-day there were largo yardlngs, fat sheep and cattle being particularly well represented. The store sheep yarding consisted mainly of poor class ewes with a fair proportion of wethers and lambs. Last week’s values were well maintained. Good forward 4 and 6-tooth wethers, Jss to 16s 6d, ordinary 12s 7d to 14s 9d, 2 and 4-tootli 12s to 12s 7d, cull 2-tooth 7s to 8s 9d, forward lambs 10s 7d to 13s, ordinary Ss Id to 10s, good halfbred ewe lambs 20s, fairly good 2, 4. and 6-tooth ewes, in lamb 15s to 18s, inferior 2 and 4-tooth ewes In lamb 7s 6d to 8s 9d, failing-mouthed ewes In lamb 7s to Ils 4d, aged ewes 2s 9d to 4s fld.
Fat Lambs.—Rates were firm at mst week’s values. Extra prime 28s, prime 20s to 22s Od, medium 16s 9d to 19s 9d, light and unfinished 12s 8d to 16s 6d.
Fat Sheep.—Competition opened briskly at about last week’s rates, but fell off half-way through, to liven up again towards the dose. All round there was c drop of about 2s per head, due to the big pennings. Extra prime wethers 31s, prime 2)s Cd to 265, medium 17s 6d to 225, light and Inferior 15s to 17s, extra prime ewes 24s Id, prime 18s to 30s 6d, medium 15s to 17s 9d, light and inferior 9s to 14s 6d.
Fat Cattle.—Lower quality beef dropped £2 to £3 per bead. Extra prime steers £2O 15s to £23 ss, prime £l5 to £l9 15s, medium £lO to £l4 7s 6d, light and Inferior £7 15s to £lO, extra prime heifers £2O, prime £lO to £l2 7s 6d. ordinary £6 12s to £9 12s Od, extra prime cows £l5 15s, prime £8 to £l2 15s, ordinary £5 to £7 12s 6d. Vealers.—Runners £5 7s 6d, good vealers £4 to £4 15s, medium £2 12s 6d to £3 15s, small £1 2s 6d to £2 7s od.
Store Cattle.—Three-year-old steers £7 2s Cd to £7 17s 6d, 18-months to two-year-old steers £3 15s to £4 10s, two-year heifers £3 10s to £4 2s 6d, good cows £2 lOs to £4 ss, Inferior to medium 10s to £1 ss. Dairy Cattle.—Second and third culvers, £l3, cows in profit £9, inferior cows 15s to £4. good springing heifers £8 to £ll. Fat Pigs.—Choppers £5 to £6 19s, light baconers £4 5s to £4 15s. heavy £5 to £5 10s, extra heavy £6 to £6 7s (average price per lb 7%d), light porkers £2 10s to £3, heavy £3 5s to £3 15s (average price per lb B%d to 9%d). Store pigs.—Good medium £2 to £2 10s, small £1 to £1 2s 6d, weaners 7s 6d to 12s 6d.
PRICES AT BURNSIDE. SHARP ADVANCE IN FAT CATTLE. ’ Dunedin, June 22. The Burnside sales were well supplied with fat stock in all departments (o-aay, witCi the exception of fat cattle. These were in short supply, and a sharp advance in prices resulted. Sheep, lambs, and pigs also realised fair values, and there was an improvement in the store cattle market, both in regard to numbers and quality. Fat Cattle.—A small yarding of medium quality, the number penned being 153. At the opening of the sale competition was very keen, and values realised were 20s to 30s per head above last week’s rates. There was a large proportion of cows and heifers in to-day’s yarding. Prime ox beef realised up to 435, but the major portion of the ox beef sold would he worth In the vicinity of 41s. Cow beef brought from 22s to 50s. Prime bullocks realised £l9 to £24 10s, medium £l5 to £lB, light and unfinished sorts from £9 upwards. Primo heifers realised from £l3 to £l6, medium £lO to £l2 10s, light and aged from £7 upwards. Store Cattle.—A better supply was sent forward for to-day’s sale. The yarding met with Improved competition, and the prices realised were a few shillings per head In advance of late rates for all good sorts offered. The yarding included a few pens of bullocks in forward condition. Sheep.—A large yarding, numbering 3963 head, which showed improvement in the standard of quality. Considering the large number forward, good prices were realised. There were some good lines of small halfbred wethers, which were keenly competed for. Prices, as a whole were on a par with last week, whether mutton being worth about 4d per pound, and ewe 3d to 3%d. Extra prime wethers sold up to 3J.s 3d, prime wethers 24s to 26s 6d, medium wethers 19s to 22s 6d, lighter weights 14s to 17s fid, prime ewes 18s to 22s 6d, medium 14s to IGs, light and inferior 10s to 13s. Lambs.—A Urge yarding, numbering 2470 head of fair quality. There was very keen competition, freezing buyers operating freely, and p. Clearance was effected at very satisfactory prices. Values ranged from 15s to 28s per head, equal to 7d lb and occasionally a shade more. Pigs.—A medium yarding of mixed sorts. All classes met with good competition, and a clearance was effected at prices on a par with late rates. Rest porkeva and baconers : realised from Sci to 9d lb. 1
