INSURANCE AGAINST DROUGHT.

BY FODDER CONSERVATION. By Telegraph.—Press Asan.—Copyright Sydney, June 24. After a conference lasting several weeks between Government representatives, pastoralists and other interested industries a comprehensive scheme for fodder conservation as a means of drought insurance has been prepared for submission to the Cabinet, which proposes the establishment of a board with legislative authority, representing pastoral and financial interests, with a Gov-‘ ernment nominee. The State is also to be divided into districts under local committees, which farmers will be encouraged to grow at guaranteed prices. Rural interests and the Government will jointly finance the scheme, which is estimated to require £5,000,0(10 to carry on for five years, when it will become self-supporting. The scheme has been well received among the rural interests.
