DISTRICT NEWS.
MANGATOKI. (From Our Own Correspondent.) There was quite an exodus from Mangatoki on Monday morning, Messrs. D. L. A. Astbury, J. Marx sent., T. Linn and others leaving by mail train for th© Palmerston Show. It is a pity that some young men are not better employed than wilfully destroying property. On Saturday night the notice boards recently erected by the council on tbe ElthamHunter road were both broken off. No doubt tbe perpetrators thought this a very smart trick, but to others it seems to be a very unmanly stupid one. We are sorry to record tte death of Mrs. F. C. Babbage, of Rotokare. Mrs. R. and B. Lee, of this district, are both daughters of the deceasd lady.
