SUPREME COURT.

GISBORNE SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, June 23. The Supreme Court occupied two days hearing the charge of alleged forgery against John Harold Kane, solicitor, in connection with a receipt signed by a Native woman, Hinehou, in a transaction for the sale of land. The allegation was that the figure on the receipt was altered from £lOO to £2OO. The Judge commented severely on the looseness of the transaction and*the conduct of the interpreter whosigned the attestation without actually witnessing the signature. Air. Myers (Wellington), with Mr. Burnard (Gisborne) appeared for the defence. The jury retired at P 2.30 p.m.
