Carpentier continues to puzzle observers. The public works it out that he is obviously intentionally ineffective. His sparring partners are exceedingly poor, but on his showing with them Carpentier apparently would not last a round with Dempsey. However, observers are sure that Carpentier is deliberately hiding his real ability, so as to confuse. Dempsey.
