CHORAL SOCIETY.

NEXT WEEK’S CONCERT. Great interest is being shown in the New Plymouth Choral Society’s concert, which takes place at the Empire Theatre on Wednesday evening next, and patrons are eagerly awaiting the opening of the box plan to secure their seats. Honorary members may book their seats at any time now, and the plan will be opened to the public on Friday morning. The box office is- at Collier’s. The society’s opening concert promises to be of high standard, hi which the singing of the choir will be one of the chief features. A very pleasing selection of numbers has been made, which affords scope for a good variety of effects. Some of the works to be presented are entirely new to New Plymouth audiences, and include a very Stirring choral ballad, “England, my England!” (Dicks), and a choice number from among Sir Henry Bishop’s popular part songs entitled “The Fisherman’s Good Night.” Other selections have, been made from the works of Sir Arthur Sullivan, Sir Edward Elgar, Haydn, Rossini, and Pinsuti. Most of the items to be given by the assisting artists also have never been done here before, and the public may look forward to a bright fresh programme of music of a high standard. Tickets are 4s and 3s (no tax), and seats may be reserved without extra charge.
