THE PETONE TROUBLE.

POSSIBILITY OF A BOYCOTT. ALLIANCE OF LABOR MAY ACT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The refusal of the Petone Borough Council to meet representatives of the Gas Workers’ Union in conference, With the Minister of Labor presiding, may lead to interesting developments. It has been stated already that the gasworks have been declared “black,” and the possibility of industrial organisations connected with the Alliance of Labor being drawn into the dispute is not unlikely. This aspect of the matter is now believed to be under consideration. Affiliated' with the alliance are the watersiders, drivers, the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, the seamen and the miners, and it is suggested that action may be taken to prevent the Petone gasworks obtaining supplies of coal.
