COLLAPSES dVrING MATCH. By Telagrapb.—Press Association. Wanganui, June 20 A half-easte Maori named Chas. Wm. Beeke. aged 22, collapsed when placing football at Patea on Saturday, and died on admission to the hospital? SOME FURTHER DETAILS. VERDICT AT THE INQUEST. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Night. It appears that Becke was injured at a football match a ih'eek ago, and was in hospital for three days, having received a blow over the heart. He played last Saturday for the Patea juniors against advice. Nobody saw him receive any injury. At the inquest held to-day a verdict was returned that deceased died of heart failure owing to acute strain while playing football. A rider was added suggesting: (I) That an ambulance should be on football grounds in charge of a competent person; and (2) that the Rugby Union should be recommended to see that all players are. medically examined at the beginning of the football season.
