By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London June 19. Bullock beads the list of winning jockeys and Carslake is third. An unusual action was commenced and suddenly finished in the King’s Bench Division in London In April. J. Dewhurst sued P. Wallace, turf accountant, of Birmingham, and editor of the Defaulters’ Gazette, for libel. Counsel for plaintiff said his client. received from defendant a letter in an envelope on which was printed, “From Percy Wallace, collector of betting debts from defaulting bookmakers and backers.” That was the libel. Dewhurst said he was not a defaulting bookmaker or backer. The case was iidjourned, and on its resumption plaintiff’s counsel announced that his client wished to withdraw his claim, and admitted that, in his evidence, he had made statements which he could not maintain.
