CHURCH ORPHANAGES.
INTERFERENCE RESENTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, June 17. Speaking at the annual meeting of the Presbyterian Church Orphanage Association the Rev. Dr. Gibb referred to the recent hint of some interference with church ciphanages. “If they,do this,” he said, “they will have a hornets’ nest about them. They will have on the platform against them the Roman Catholic Archbishop, the Anglican Bishop, lepresfintatives of the Presbyterian Church, representatives of the 'Methodists and Salvation Army. Separated from one another we sometimes think we are weak in not presenting a sufficiently strong front to the foe, but if we stand together I do not know of any Minister that will stand against us.” Dr. Gibb said they welcomed any test the Government liked to impose and invited the closest inspection night or day. Speaking of the Presbyterian orphanages, he knew they could compare more than favorably with the handiwork of the Government. He thought he could say the same of all the church institutions. Continuing, he said: “I think we should say to the Government 'Hands off, we have taken up this work.’ ”
