SHEEP DOG TRIALS.
WINNERS AT MARTON. \fartun, June ta The dog trials held at Marton attracted a large number of competitotrs, particularly in the big event, the Short Head and Yarding, ti e first prize being £lO 10s, and a challenge cup valued at £l2 12s, and the second prize £7 7s. The winner proved to be W. V. McIntyre’s (Dannevirke) Chief, with a total of 45 out of a. possible 4.9 points. The time allowed wa# 15 minutes, but Chief got his flock home in 12min. 20sec. R. W. Trotter's (Kurow) dog was second. C. S. Hays’ (Masterton) Wallace, and L. B. Green’s (One Tree Hill) Boss, tied for third and fourth places, the prize money for which was £8 Bs. Special prizes were awarded as follow: Dog showing most style, £3 3s.—A. Rolfe’? (Inglewood) Fly. Dog under best command.—W. V. Mclntyre’s Chief, E. Leahy’s Bob, A. S. Slrvine's Unmermoor Jed; C. S.
