MAIL COACH UPSET IN RIVER. HEAVY RAINFALL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Gisborne, June 17. An easterly gale with an extremely heavy rainfall was experienced on the East Coast area during last night. Tokomaru Bay reports rainfall in the district varying from 3.50, 6, to 6.10 inches. As the result of a flood two spans of the Waiapu bridge which were under process of restoration were carried away. The mail coach from Wuipiro Bay, when crossing the Mangahaniifi River yesterday, overturned and was carried down ten chains. The driver rescued the mails and horses at eonsid.erable risk to himself. FLOODS IN THAMES BRIDGE RENDERED UNSAFE. Thames, Last Night. It is reported that a timber boom above the Mata bridge, between Thames and Coromandel, broke away, carrying the centre pier of the bridge and traffic fs suspended. The rivers are high-
