HAWKE’S BAY PROGRESS. Without making comparisons with the rest of the Dominion, the province of Hawke’s Bay can claim to be one of the rffcost prosperous and progressive parti? of New Zealand. Anyone who has visited the district or its two principal towns, Napier and Hastings, knows what a well-to-do and go-ahead place it is. The past progress of the province is a criterion of the greater prosperity that lies in the future. But in the meanwhile, the farmers of Hawke’s Bay are feeling the pinch of reduced prices for their products, and therefore the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Co-op. wishes to extend further financial help to those who need it. The unprecedented drop in values of wool and live stock has so materially affected farmers’ returns that the Association, like other similar institutions, is being practically placed in the position of having to finance the large majority of its numerous clients for a second year without any appreciable return for the first year —only a small percentage of the past season’s wool clip has so far been realised, and a considerable proportion of the surplus live stock is still held. Hence the need for additional capital and the reason for the issue of £150,000 of 8 per cent. Bonds, £75,000 of which are being offered to the public. The Bonds are in three denominations £25, £5O, £.loo—and they bear interest at the rate of 8 per cent, per annum, payable half-yearly, free of income tax. The Association is 30 years old. Security supporting the Bond Issue totals £329,987, including reserve fund of £71,772. Read full particulars of tli6 Association, and of this splendid investment, in the prospectus, which may be obtained from any branch of the Union Bank of Australia, Ltd., or any member of the Stock Exchange, or from the Head Office of the Association, Napier, and its ’ branches.
