RUGBY AMATEUR LEAGUE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Sydney, June 15. Suggestions have been made In amateur circles to form an amateur Rugby League in opposition to the existing League. It is contended that the conference of amateur bodies last year would unanimously have accepted the amateur definition had the Rugby League agreed to eliminate professionals from club control. ) * \ During the Springboks’ stay in Sydney a conference will be held with New South Wales and New Zealand representatives on the international cimtrol of Rugby and the proposed Australian amendments. ARRIVAL OF SPRINGBOKS. Adelaide, June 15. The Springboks arrived by the Aeneas after a rough passage. SOUTH ISLAND v. NORTH, Christchurch, June 15. The South Island Rugby representatives against the North have been selected. They are: Foil-back, Evans (Canterbury); threequarters, Phillips (Marlborough), Storey (South Canterbury), Ford (Canterbury); fiveeighths, Jeffs (Olago), McCormack (Canterbury) ; half, Connolly (Marlborough) ; wingforward, Baird (Southland), Duncan (Otago), Ellis (Canterbury), McLean (Buller), Richardson (Otago), Turnbull (Otago), Petersen (Canterbury), Whyte (Southland). Emergencies: Backs, Steel and Russell (Westland). Forwards: Snow (Nelson), Scott (South Canterbury). TOKO v. TARIKI. The team to represent Toko against Tariki at Tariki on Saturday at 2 p.m., will be as follows:—L. Murfell, J. Walters, M. Chainey, E. Bayly, J. Johnstone, D. Fowler, J. Bonner, R. Burghara, B. Vincent, G. Sangster, C. Vaughan, A. Vaughan, G. Mather, C n Burgham, E. Smith. The following will represent Oka to v. Eltham at R ahotu On ~ Saturday:—Norgate, Milne, Gllhooly, Tanner, Walshe, Maere, Corbett (2), O’Sullivan (2), Shotter (2), Robson, Anderson, F. Hill. The Junior team v. Star at Okato will be the same as that which played last time.
