TARANAKI RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the management comv mit tee of the Taranaki Rugby Uniorij was held at Stratford last night. Pres 4 ent: Messrs - ; Jas. McLeod D. George, L. G- Beamish, A. R. Ryder* A. F. Neilson, W. G. Harkness, R< Fearon, D. J. Malone, Jas. Garcia and G. E. Jago (secretary). A resolution of condolence was passs ed with the widow and family of th 4 late Mr. F. Given, of Hawera, who a member of the South Referees’ Association and a keen en*tnusiast, being an old Otago representa- q tive. The rector of the Wanganui College wrote agreeing to "Wanganui Collego playing New Plymouth High School at), Hawera on July 9. FIXTURES. The Wanganui Rugby Union that in view of the South AfriouJ itinerary being altered so as to plajr Wanganui on July 27, they would M unable to play Taranaki on July 28, ami(j suggested August 4. It was out that Taranaki was playing bury on August 3, and it was resolv>Aj to ask Wanganui to play the match on* July 14, as it was considered that ai match before the South African znatebft would be beneficial to the team. Ifi possible the team would be assembled at& New Plymouth on the following day for practice. The Auckland Rugby Union notified/ that September 3 had been fixed as date of the Taranaki match at Audktf land, /and September 24 as the date o< the match at New Plymouth. Manawatu Rugby Union notified that/ they were unable to play Taranaki onj June 30. It was resolved to offer Wellington either August 13 or 20 and Manawatu the previous Wednesday for matches at Wellington and Palmerston North. It was decided to write Messrs Hom pre and Rountree suggesting that a primary schools representative match between the northern and southern di* visions should be played as a curtain* raiser to the collegiate match on July) 9. GENERAL. The Taranaki Education Board notified that owing to the altered conditions fl whereby the department pay directly fotf scholarships, the board regrets that It has no funds available to enable a grant to be made towards the Alf Bayly Memorial Scholarship.—Referred to Mr. Masters.
■Some discussion took place over tha ; payment of expenses of senior clubs, the secretary pointing out that these were; higher than expected and that it was very doubtful if the Union could pay the 75 per cent that they were now paying. It \vas decided only to pay out 50 per cent during the second round. It was pointed out that even then the expenses to players wpuld be less than in any previous year. The referee (Mr. F. Hooker) reported two players in the Star-Clifton junior* match for rough play. It was stated l hat the referee did not consider ths offence a serious one and it was resolved to stand down the players —E. Frost (Clifton) and Hurley (Star) —for a playing week. It was also resolved to caution Te Tuku, the Star full back, for. rough play in the Star-Eltham match.
E. Andrews reported an official of thsClifton Club for insulting language on the line during the progress of a match, between Tukapa and Clifton first! juniors.—Referred to the Waitara Re-instatements were granted as foH lows:—Seniors to juniors: Stratford, J* Tocker, J. Butcher, A. Cameron; Star, E. Cleaver; Old Boys, F. Paterson, R« McDonald, E. Hamblyn and H. Bayly 3 M. Taylor; Old Boys, G. Dowland; Lepperton, A. Fulton, C. Copestake. Transfer of M. Baily from Waimate to Hawera was approved. The application of Gkaiawa for tha re-instatement of Manu from senior to junior’was declined, as the rules do nob permit of a player being re-instated twice in the one season. Mr. Harkness, on behalf of Midhirst, asked that all matches in the centraljunior competition should be played at Stratford—Left in the hands of the central members, with the tinderstanding that the Tariki interests shall be considered. Clifton Club applied for all gold jerseys with blue monograms as the club’s colors. —Approved. Hawera Club reported that through » misunderstanding the Okaiawa-Hawer» third grade match had not been played on Saturday—Left in the hands of the southern delegates. It. was resolved to play a third round in the B grade seniors and in the central junior competition. The Tariki Club forwarded an apology, as requested, 'in connection with the incident at the Toko match. Mr. Ryder, chairman of the Referees* Association, stated that it was proposed to hold a conference of referees of the northern and southern divisions to discuss the interpretation of the rules with a view to a uniform interpretation.—lt was decided to defray the expense of. transport, and also suggest that two referees from the central divisions should be invited. No reply having been received from. Okaiawa in answer to the Union’s request for an explanation as to the al-1 leged playing of a man who had playedfor another club on the previous Satur-, day, it was decided to ask the club, and, also the player concerned, to show cause why they should not be dealt with

Fogarty have been nominated for the North Island team, which is. t< be selected at Marton today by Messrs. D. -J. Malone (Taranaki), - G. Nicholson (Auckland), and Griffith® (Wellington).
