TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. A meeting ,of the committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held last night. Present: Messrs. E. Jackson (in the chair), F. Farrell, M. Stagpoole, J. Kurta, W. Richards. W. Whitaker, N. Howell, J. Garcia, T. P. Smith, E. Reed, W. Stephenson, and E. Clarke (secretary). A letter was received from the New Zealand Boxing Council regarding a proposal to tax professional boxers. After a brief discussion it was decided not to support the proposal, some members being In favor of something in the direction of limiting the purses offered. Mr. Clarry (Eltiiam) forwarded a letter explaining that his non-appearance at the recent tournament was.due to an Injured hand. —Accepted. The committee set up to consider the question of procuring suitable accommodation to stage the next tournament, which is to be held in New Plymouth in July, submitted a report. A number of applications were received from professionals asking to be matched. The following will represent Avenue Road against Borough Council at the Soldiers’ Club on Thursday evening at 7.30 sharp:— A Richards, L. Richards, J. Cliff. M. Cotton, J. Blewman, W. Hooker, H.
