LOAN AND MERCANTILE REPORT. HAWERA BRANCH. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report:— At Kakaramea on Monday we had a, fair yarding of all classes of stock. Practically the whole entry changed hands at prices on a par with late rates. We quote:—Forward woolly lambs 15s, good conditioned cows £2 10s to £2 15s, boners 15s, bulls £1 12s 6d to £ 1 14s, Jersey cross weaner heifers £ 2 3s 6d to £2 12s 6d, others £1 to £1 19s ? steers to 15s, springing heifers to £l2 2s 6d. On Wednesday at Eltham an average entry came forward. Bidding was fairly ' brisk throughout, and the majority of the yarding was disposed of under the hammer. We quote:— 4 and 6-tooth wethers 14s 2d, fat cows £5 15s to £6, forward ditto £2 2s 6d to £2 10s, others 10s to £1 ss, dairy cows (medium) £ll ss, old and inferior ditto £5 15s, Holstein weaner heifers (good conditions) £3, Jersey cross ditto £3 15s,’ steers ■l2s. ! At Hawera on Thursday we had a big yarding of cattle, but only a. small entry of sheep. Bidding was very lagging for the latter, but was a little more brisk at the cattle --pens. Most of the cattle were sold at lata ’rates at prices as shown below: —Store pigs £1»medluni lambs 6s, good conditioned cows £'2 5s to £3' 6s, others 10s to 365, heifers r.w.b. £5 10s, weaner heifers (Jersey) £3 10s, others 37s to £2 Is, dairy cows (good) £l3 5s to £l6 ss, others £7 to £ll 10s. WAIKATO STOCK MARKET. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company report:— At Hamilton we had a good yarding of beef and mutton, but store stock were not strongly represented. Beef was firm at about last week’s values, steers selling to £l3 12s 6d, cows, best from £9 to £lO 10s, medium weight £6 10s to £8 15s, fresh conditioned £2 9s to £3 15s, store cattle generally were in keener demand, IS-months heifers in calf (small), making £5 10s, empty heifers, same age to £3 Us, calves best 15s to £l, smaller 7s 6d, fat sheep advanced considerably in value, best wethers making to 25s for prime medium weights lighter weights 20s to 21s 9d, very forward 4-tooth wethers reached 21s 6d, small framed sorts 15s to 17s Gd. Pigs were not quite up to last week’s values, baconers making to £5 6s, porkers £2 7s 6d to £3 ss, slips £1 to £1 12s 6d, weaners £5 to 12s 6d.
