Tliatj results are Kirkwood beat Vardon at the 19th hole. Watt beat Holland at tte 19th hole. Hagen beat Taylor, 4 up and 2. ' Renonf beat Johns, 4 up and 2. Ray fieat French, 2 up and 1. Havers beat Braid, 1 up. Mitchell beat Hutct inson, 1 up. Ockenden beat Jones, 2 up. KIRKWOOD WINS AGAIN. GOES TO SEMI-FINALS. Received Jufie 10, 5.5 p.m. London, June 9 Kirkwood beat Havers at the 20th hole, where a crowd of three thousand applauded the winner. Kirkwocd won the first hole brilliantly. He lost tte next two, halved the next, and lost the fifth against a gale of wind. He reached the sixth in two, and won with four. He took three putts at the seventh, but halved It, and lost the next. He was one down at the ninth. Havers got a brilliant four at the tentM hole, which was fully exposed to the gale. He halved the eleventh and twelfth in three and four, and made the match all square at the sixteenth. Havers’ ball at the seventeenth struck a spectator, and h(s second shot deflected to the green. Kirkwood failed to reach the green in. two, and lost the hole, but squared at the eighteenth. Bott? took fives at the nineteenth, but had their seconds on the green. KIRKWOOD v. VARDON. AUSTRALIAN LEADS FROM START. Received Juno 10, 9.55 p.m. London, June 9. In the match against Vardon, Kirkwood held the lead from the beginning. After being two up and three to play he lost the sixteenth and seventeenth holes, but the match finlsted at the nineteenth. Kirkwood hitting a magnificent seconu with an Iron shot, and this stroke won the match. Vardon and Taylor complimented Kirkwood, whose wrist is now right.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. • NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. NW RULES OPERATE TO-DAY, The New Plymouth Club will this afternoon Piny the first round for the Standish Cup, the lowest aggregate of three medal rounds on handicap, handicaps to be adjusted if necessary after each round. From to-day members at Wiitwakaiho will play under the new rules of golf. Thoso wfl be posted in the chib bouse, m match plhy n ball may be lifted from any place on the course under penalty of stroke and distance. For medal play too the penalty will be the same. For a ball out of bounds the penalty is stroke and distance also. Th* rule as to the use of the standard balUiw doubt will not be enforced at present. .Tusc now there is difficulty in getting golf balls of the leading makes, whilst some players have stocks of ..alls on hand. For the present the bunker at the tenth hole between the tee and tte green is to be treated as ground under repair. In its present condition it is impossible to play out of this bunker.
