AN OPEN LETTER To Messrs Stainton & Co., Distributors of “The Farmers’ Milking Machine Co.”, New Plymouth. Dear Sirs, — Under the heading of “An open letter to Mr. Porter, representative of the ‘A.W.R.’ Milking Machine Co., Ltd.,” I notice your suggestive’references to inyself as having spun tall tales concerning your Farmers’ “Milking Apparatus.” Though not conversant with the term -‘Tall Tales” which you prefer to use, and which also says nothing to the point, 1 quite see your motive, but am afraid that you are doomed to disappointment in these days of hard and keen competition, when the average dairy farmer (like myself) seeks the truth and will be satisfied only by hard bed-rock facts. It signifies nothing whether the tales are “tall” or “short”—if true. Understand, lam interested only at present in your personal references to myself, and not in any way concerned with the latter part of your advertisement, this being under the control of the Chairman and Manager of the Company for them to deal with as they think best. I may add that I have been in this business for many years, and I have always competed cleanly and openly, and any reference I may have made with regard to any of my competitors or their goods will certainly stand the light of day, and I invite you to prove othenvise.—Yours Faithfully, • L. PORTER. Representative: The “A.W.R.” Milking Machine Co., Ltd., Stratford.
