BONDS FOR THRIFTY WOMEN. MAKING SAVINGS GROW FASTER. 9 Judging by the number of women who have applied for the Farmers’ Union Trading Company’s per cent, bonds, the thrifty sex is keenly interested in this highly profitable form of investment. Some women have asked for one or more £25 bonds; others have applied for several hundreds of pounds’ worth. Sb far as value is concerned the applications received from men are much higher—the biggest individual amount to date being £2500—-but it is noteworthy that almost every second or third application received is from a housewife* Evidently women realise that in these 71 per cent, bonds they have a splendid opportunity to make their savings grow more rapidly. Instead of receiving about 4 per cent, on their money, they* as bondholders, will get 7J per cent, per annum, free of income tax—the tax being paid by the company direct to the Government. Another saving ia assured by the arrangement made by the company to pay exchange in Auckland on all applications for bonds, also on thel cashing of the interest coupons every six months, and on the repayment of the bonds when due in four or eight years. These 7A per cent, bonds have behind them £568,460 security, and the ftill strength of a company having the largest merchandise turnover and the big. , gest share register of any farmers* co- . operative company in New Zealand. As ; only £lOO,OOO worth are being offered, investors will be well advised to eend in their applications early. The bonds are in three denominations—£2s. £5O, and £lOO each. The amount may be paid in full with the application, or half may be paid at once, and t'he balance in three months. Prospectus, giving full particnliyjf ’of these bonds, is obtainable from' anjr branch of the Bank of New Zealand, or direct from the Farmers’'Union Co., Auckland.
