THE Y.W.C.A.
NEXT WEEK’S CAMPAIGN. The Y.W.C.A* is making a big effort next week to collect a further £2OOO towards fhe purchase of CJiatsworth House as a girls’ hostel and there is every reason to believe that they will achieve a great success. There are 90 women banded together in a. scheme to canvass the town for financial help. The campaign will last for about a week beginning on June 4 and continuing till June 13. The Clarke Memorial Hostel for young women is but the beginning of the movement. The work of the Y.W.C.A. in New Zealand is of the greatest interest to us and those who are not familiar with its activity are often surprised to know- how much ground it covers. It divides its work into five headings—spiritual, service, physical, social and educational —and in each section it is doing the very best kind of work. This is a national appeal—to help the girls—for the nation that builds on its womanhood builds for all time. The parity and strength of its daughters, wives and mothers form the very keystone of the building. The Y.W.C:A. is one of the. greatest forces working at the chiseling of that keystone; by tin? donation of our share we too may purchase the privilege of helping in the shaping of that stone.
