“My idea is that a man’s place is with his wife and not with his mother.” stated a lady in the witness-box at tha Auckland Magistrate’s Court. She wat the mother of the wife who was applying for separation and maintenance. The wife was only years old, and was married when but 15 years. There werte no mutual recriminations, as the huaband apparently had no vices, but would live with his mother. The young wife, after residing some months with her mother-in-law and husband, returned to her own parents, but said she was ready to go to her husband if he would provide a home of their own. As Mr. E. O. Cutten, S.M., was loath to separate such a young couple he adjourned the applica* tion in hopes that some settlement could be made.
