ARMY CADETSHIPS.
AT WOOLWICH AND SANDHURST. OPEN TO NEW ZEALANDERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Defence Department has been advised by the War Office that the Army Council has decided to allot a limited number of cadetships at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, to candidates from New Zealand, who will be admitted on the nomination of the Gov-ernor-General, and will therefore not be requfred to take an entrance examination.
These cadetships are not open to sons of parents, whose connection with the Dominion is only temporary or official. Only those who intend to make the regular army their permanent profession in life will be recommended for admission by nomination. The course is two years’ duration and the fees are arranged on a sliding scale, giving preference to sons of soldiers who died in the war.
