THE BOOM IN BONDS.
LARGE AND SMALL INVESTORS. Seven and a half per cent, bonds are becoming a popular form of investment, and this is not surprising when one considers how remunerative and convenient these bonds are. To begin with, the interest rate of 71 per cent, free of income tax is certainly far better than the interest one would receive front a mortgage. As the bonds are in three denomnations— .£25, £5O and £lOO each—the small investor has the same opportunity as the man possessing large means of making his jjtoney work for him to the very best advantage. Four or eight year bonds are available, the purchaser having the. right to state which he requires, so that he need not invest nis money for more than four years unless he wishes to do so. The Farmers’ Union Trading Co.’s bonds are bearer bonds with interest coupons attached, and are easily transferable, like bank notes. The coupons may be cashed half-yearly at any branch of the Bank of New Zealand, at any of the company’s ‘ll brunches, or at. its Auckland warehouse. As only £lOO,OOO worth of bonds are being ottered, investors will be well advised to send in their applications early. Theoe bonds are likely to be in great demand, for as money becomes more plentiful and the interest rate falls, bonds at 7A per cent, free of income tax, will possibly be selling at a premium. Prospectus, giving full particulars of’ these bonds i«s obtainable from any branch of the Bank of New Zealand, or direct from the Farmers’ Union Trading Co., Auckland.
