STATEMENT CORRECTED. Christchurch, Last Night. It was erroneously stated in the cases against William Nidd, licensee of the Royal Hotel, arising out of the Middleton case, that Vincent Ward had. bought the third drink for Middleton and his companion. The licensee stated tha.t Ward visited the bar to obtain cigarettes, and did not buy any drinks for the visitors. NEW PROGRESS LEAGUE. Blenheim, Last Night. A very large and representative meeting of representatives of local bodies and other organisations of Marlborough to-night decided to form a Progress League.
