The last Dutch Note contended that the American interests did not apply to get into the Djambi field before negotiations with the Batavia Oil Company, in which British capital interests had proceeded so far and could not be overlooked. It is understood the American Note emphatically states that the United States did make application long before the Batavia negotiations were concluded.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. NEWFOUNDLAND AFFAIRS.
