Now Zealand might one day ask for International representation. In urging alterations in the laws, New Zealand was doing its best to fight the strong opposition of the League geme. (To the Editor.) Sir,—Permit me a little space in your valuable column to insert a few lines which may enlighten me a little as a supporter of Rugby football, now that the good old game in full swing in Taranaki, and we have seen the names in print of tl.e first Taranaki representative team of the season to play against Wanganui on Friday. The team looks very well on paper, and I think should give a good account of Itself when up against the Wanganui reps., and there appears to be no fault in the placing of our team, but I am at a loss to know why the best fiveeighths in our province has been omitted. Is it because they know “Sam’s” qualities so well that they are standing him flown to give some of the otters a “try out,” and are saving "Sam” for the more important matches, such as the Ranfurly Shield or the Springboks, Where they want the very best that "Cowland” can produce? Every supporter and follower of the good old game of Rugby football knows “Sammie’s” qualities as a fiveeighth on any field, whether in club or rep; matches, and such a brilliant player of the good old game of “footle” we can ill-afford to stand down. Followers and supporters are wondering.—l am, etc., SUPPORTER OF RUGBY FOOTBALL.
