REDUCTION IN FREIGHTS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Sydney, May 31. The Overseas Shipping Association has reduced the rates of freight on sheep-skins from Australian ports l%d per lb to l%d. A drop of 10s on jute goods from India to Australia is reported. NAPIER WOOL SALES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, May 31. At the wool sales 80 per cent, of the offering was sold. Bidding was spirited on the increased limits created since the Wellington sales. The ruling rates were %d to %d per lb. better than in Wellington. America, the Continent, and Bradford bought, the bulk going to Bradford. Little lamb was offering. Fine 46’s and 48's stowed an upward tendency. Southdowns were keenly sought for. The increase on the Wellington prices was equal to 5 per cent. The wool sales closed with the demand unsatisfied, prices being maintained to the end. The clearance is expected to have a good result in Hawke's Bay.
