Tiie Inglewood Defence Rifle Club hopes to send the following representative team to the fifth annual meeting of the Patea Rifle Association on June 3;—Riflemen M. Marsh, G. Taylor, IV. L. Martin, W. Robinson, J. Bowman. R. J. Frewin (emergency). The sale at Newton King, Ltd.’s mart on Saturday was not so important as Usual. There was only a fait attendance, but the prices realised all through were satisfactory. Ihe pigs offered sold well up io late quotations from JOs to 17s for small slips; bigger pigs were not presented. A line of rimu posts sold for Is 3d eaeh, i.e. £6 5s per 100. Fowls were not well represented: Bantam made Is fid, Black Orpington cock ss. Onions sold at fls to 10s per,-slack, apples 10s per case; shrubs, etc., from Mr. J. Horn's New Plymouth nursery,sold fairly well, and vegetables and general sundries were not passed in. Buyers were benefitors. The lecture by flit Rev O. Blundell, which is announced for Tuesday night, the 31st inst., in the Town Hall, on that most engrossing subject “Astronomy, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to the development of the Taranaki Observatory in New Plymouth, should draw a large audience, more especially at this time when phenomena of an astronomical nature are attracting so much attention.
