MAINTENANCE CASES.
AN IMPORTANT RULING. By Telegraph-Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. An interesting ruling was given by Mr. Evans, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court to-day during the hearing of a maintenance case. Defendant was charged with being in arrears amounting to £ 155.
“I cannot accept that charge,” said Mr. Evans. “Some specific date when the default in payment occurred must bo mentioned. This is the law, and there have been several Supreme Court decisions on the point. The old form of charging defendants with being in arrears is bad. If the charges are not amended I will strike them out in future.”
