AUSTRALIAN WHEAT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, May 27. The c.i.f. prices for Australian wheat are: f.a.q. 755, A grade 70, B grade 645. ANTWERP WOOL SALES. London, May 28. At the Antwerp Bawra wool sales 10,000 bales were offered. There was brisk general competition, and 89.30 bales were sold at prices fully equal to London closing rates. — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. WHEAT BOARD PAYMENT. Melbourne, May 29. The Wheat Board announces a further payment of Is 3d per bushel on the last wheat crop. WAIKATO MARKET. The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co. report as follows: —At Hamilton yesterday we had a good yarding of sheep and a fair yarding of cattle and pigs. Most of the beef yard- 1 ed was of plain quality, and at about last wek’s rates. Fat cows made from £6 10s to £8 15s; lighter weights,£4 7s 6d to £6; fresh conditioned cows, £2 to’£3 10s. The bidding for store cattle showed a little more spirit, although values were much on u par with those lately ruling. Two-and-a-half to 3-year steers in forward condition brought £5 10s to £6 10s; 18-month steers, £1 10s to £2 10s;, 18-imonths empty heifers, £2 10s to £B. Bidding for strong calves was brisker, the best making to £1 7s. Springers declined in value from the previous week, the best under offer making to £lO ss. Fat sheep showed an improvement, and practically everything penned was disposed of under the hammer. Wethers made to 20s, ewes from 13s to 16s, lambs to 15s 4d. Forward ewes made from 9s 3d to 10s, store lambs 6s 3d to 8s 6d, smaller sorts 4s. Pigs, which were in fair numbers, sold at equal to last week’s rates, baconers making to 5s 6d, porkers £2 5s to £3 10s, slips £l, weaners 5s 6d to 14s.
F.C.O.S. MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., report as follow* for the week ending May 28, 1921: On Tuesday, at Stratford, we had a fair yarding of sheep and cattle, in addition to a dairy herd on account of Mr. D. S. Maxwell. In sheep, 256 2-tooth wethers made 13s 2d. There was a much brighter demand for Jersey weaners, good colored sorts making up to £5 10s. Young store cows made from 35s to 455, fat cows to £6, forward from £2 10s to £3 10s, bulls to £2. Mr. Maxwell's herd showed a good deal of age, consequently bidding was not brisk. Jerseys made up to £l5, others to £lO, other sorts being sold at boner prices. On Wednesday, at Inglewood, we had a good yarding of cattle, practically the whole of which was cleared under the hammer at full market rates. Cows in milk or just at profit were in demand, and sold at prices in vendors’ favor. Two-and-a-half-year fat and forward steers made £7 2s; fat cows, £6 10s; forward ditto, £3 to £4; boners, 20s to £2; rising 2-year in-calf heifers, Jersey cross, £9 to £10; ditto Holstein and Shorthorn, in poor condition, £2 10s to £3 10s; well-grown good Holstein in-calf heifers, £6 to £7; weaner steers, 10s to 13s; Jersey cross heifers, £3 ss: steers, 255; Jersey cows at profit, £l5 to £2O; others, £l4. On Thursday we conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr, A. J. Fever, Oeo Road, Oeo. The herd comprised mostly aged cows, and all were in very poor condition, consequently prices were not the best. Jersey cows sold at from £lO to £l2 10s, others from £5 to £9, poor sorts, 10s to £2. A small mixed line of weaners sold at 13s, horses £27. At the same sale we sold, on account of a. client, 20 rising 2-year-old in-calf Jersey heifers at £l2 ss. Tl-ese showed plenty of breeding and quality, but were on the small side. On Friday, we conducted a sale on account of Mr. W. J. Rowe, Normanby Road, Okaiawa. This was his share-milkers’ herd, and comprised mostly cows with a fair amount of age, and in poor condition, therefore prices were not bright. Best Jersey cows sold from £l3 10s to £l7, others from £5 to £l2. empty cows from £1 to £2, bulls £7, Jersey weaner heifers from £4 Is to £4 ss; rising 2-yeat in-calf Jersey heifers sold well from £ll to £l4 ITS 6d.
