EGYPTIAN RIOTS.
DEMAND FOR MORE TROOPS. EGYPTIANS NOT RELIABLE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 30, 5.5 p.m. Cairo, May 30. The British Union of 'Egypt has sent an address tjo General Allenby, stating that the Egyptian army and police had shown their incapacity to quell serious disturbances, and the assumption that Egyptians had learned to restrain their fanatical anti-Euro.pean tendencies, similar to 1882, had proved a fallacy. Britain would be held blood guilty if her failure to send sufficient troops to maintain order resulted in heavy loss of life. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
THE DEATH ROLL. London, Map 29. Advices from Alexandria state that the latest death roll in the recent disturbances totals 76, including 56 natives, 14 Greeks, three Italians and one Frenchman. EXTREMIST LEADER’S STATEMENTS. Cairo, May 28. Zaghiul Pasha welcomes Lord Allenby’s 'communiqpie. He says the Egyptians will thankfully accept the hand of friendship and earnestly desire an agreement with Britain. He alleged that the Egyptian delegation to England did not possess the confidence of the nation and demanded the resignation of the Cabinet and the summoning of a National Assembly to decide in regard to negotiations with Britain. He declares that the disturbances at Alexandria are not political, but due to Greeks firing on pro-Kemalist demonstrators.—Times.
