FORGERY ADMITTED. Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A wharf labourer named William Henry Breeze admitted at the Police Court forging and uttering a cheque for £42 9s, with which he purchased a diamond pendant valued at £35. He. was committed for sentence.
RAILAGE RATES FOR BUTTER. Auckland, Last Night. The North Auckland Dairy Conference resolved that the Minister for Agriculture be requested to look into the great increase in railage rates for butter, the conference being of the opinion that the increases were unwarranted compared with those on other goods. INVERCARGILL JUBILEE. Invercargill, Last Night. To-night a public meeting decided to hold a jubilee of Invercargill borough from September 11 to 17. GRADING OF FLAX. Wellington, Last Night. A conference was held to-day of flaxmillers, officers of the Department of Agriculture, and hemp exporters, in respect to grading. Mr. F. S. Pope, secretary of the Department of Agriculture, presided. TOWN-PLANNING AIMS. ■Wellington, Last Night. After a lengthy discussion to-night, the Town-Planning Association decided in favor of .the deletion of a clause in the constitution which dimed at securing the return of candidates who would give the best services to the city. It was stated the association was forgetting the object for which it was formed, and was going in for electioneering.
