After a dainty and ple.nti-' ful supper, supplied by the ladies of the district, had been handed round, Mr. George Anderson, chairman of the Alahoe School Committee, in a neat speech, presented the guest of the evening with o, silver tea-set, suitably inscribed, as a mark of the esteem in which she was held by the Mahoe residents. Air. Mann suitably replied on behalf of Miss Trewin. Mr. Cumberworth, head teacher, in a few well-chosen words, expressed the regret of himself and the children at losing so capable a teacher as Aliss Trewin, who had always done her best, often under adverse circumstances, for those under her charge. After the hearty singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” followed by three heart)’ cheers for the guest, dancing was kept up until early on Wednesday morning.
