THE UNREST AT NIUE.
NOT REGARDED AS SERIOUS. By Telegraph.—Press Assoelatlop Wellington, Last Night. No further advice has been received by Dr, Pomare (Minister in Charge of the Cook Islands) in regard to the reported trouble at Niue. The unrest is not, however, regarded as serious. The suggestion that it is anti-Euro-pean in character is not entertained by the Minister; it is purely a native quarrel. Returned soldiers, who are supporting the Administration, are regarded as having a very healthy influence, owing to the experience they gained in their service away from the Island. It i« thought that the trouble is among only a very small part of the population. The general body of the Nieuans are lovable people, well disposed to the Administration.
