DISARMAMENT.
JAPAN WILLING TO CONFER. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. New York, May 27. The New York Evening Post’s Tokio correspondent learns from the Foreign and Naval Offices that Japan will gladly accept an invitation to a disarmament conference whereby President Harding issues a call. Officials do not consider the Government’s position inconsistent with that of last December, when Ishii led the blocking of disarmament at the League Assembly at Geneva. Japan’s opposition was then due to her unwillingness to adhere to an agreement not binding on Powers outside the League. When similar reductions are agreed to by the United States and Britain, Japan will be ready to forego pdrt of her construction programme. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
