ELTHAM.

THE LATE SISTER HONORA O’CONNOR. (From a Correspondent.) Sister Honora O’CQnnor, who died in the Eltham Hospital on Thursday, May 20, was interred in the Eltham cemetery on. Sunday, May 23. The funeral was the largest witnessed in Eltham for some years. From every part of the province sympathisers came to show their appreciation of the departed Sister, who spent twenty years of her convent life working for the honor of Cod. The motif of convent life may he an enigma to strangers, but only the ignorant mind could suggest that any other than a "high and noble purpose —a divine vocation—could bring out such noble service. The funeral cortege extended for two miles, and the procession from the church to the cemetery was a magnificent tribute to the esteem which the j people have for their nuns. Seven : priests, 100 Hibernians in regalia, and 100 children in mourning preceded the hearse, which was surrounded by a bodyguard of the men of the parish. The sisters in religion followed the sad procession, reciting “The Miserere’* and “De Profundis.” Over one hundred motor cars followed the procession to the local cemetery, where the mortal remains of /Sister Honora were laid to rest. To her sisters in religion, her beloved mother, to her brothers and sisters, we extend our heartfelt sympathy in their sad~ bereavement.
