ATUA ASHORE.
STRIKES ROCK OFF NAVUA. THE VESSEL BEACHED. THE PASSENGERS SAFE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Mr. Morris, Secretary.-General of thd Post Oflfce, has received the following message from the Auckland radio stat tion:— "The Union Steamship Company’s Niagara reports having received messages to the effect that at 5.5 p.m. to-day the Atua struck a roek off Navua, and at 5.30 p.m. was being beached at Naitonitoni; the passengers would be ail right.” A later wireless says the ship was safely beached.

She is making water in the engines room, and was beached at NaitxmitonL —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [The Atua is a well-known Union S.S. Co. vegsel, and for many was on the Auckland - Islands passes ger service.]
