EVERYBODY’S. CONNY TALMADGE IN “TWO WEEKS.” Constance Talmadge, invested with a brand new story with lots of novelties in the way of plot, is revealed in new lights in “Two Weeks,” her latest comedy at Everybody’s to-night. Here we have Constance injecting into three crusty bachelors the subtle feminine touch that brings them, women-haters all, to her feet in mute adoration. Not the least beautiful o£ many striking scenes is the one where the delectable young star disports in airy costume in the private lake at midnight, and to her horror is discovered by the three, bent on the same errand; and Constance in this scene reveals herself, in more ways than one, but especially as a fine swimmer, an accomplishment that she has hitherto not made much of in pictures, at any rate. Delightfully bright, “Two Weeks” is a picture guaranteed to chase away the glooms. The bill includes a big “Larry Semon” comedy, gazette, and “Dragon’s Net.” THE PEOPLE’S. LAST NIGHT OF “THE POOR, SIMP.” Owen Moore delighted a packed house at the People’s on Saturday in his Selznick comedy-drama “The Poor Simp.” For sheer fun this picture has rarely been equalled. The bill includes gazette, comedy, and “Smashing Barriers.” KATHLEEN MAVOURNEEN TO-MORROW. The big Wm. Fox super-play, “Kathleen Mavonrneen,” with an all-star cast, commences to-morrow night. The play was inspired by the sweet old Irish love song, and is as sweet as the laughter of Irish coleens. A Sunshine comedy is also on the bill.
THE EMPIRE. FASHION PLATE DANDIES. New Plymouth is to be provided with a very fine attraction in the appearance of “The Fashion Plates,” which will appear in the Empire Theatre next Thursday, Friday and. Saturday. The “Fashion Plate Dandies” is a combination of costume-comedy-revue artists, each of whom is a performer of merit. Richly costumed as the title of the company denotes, “The Fashion Plates” will present a bright performance along modern revue lines, topical subjects and many of the latest comedy successes interspersed with a number of excellent musical selections, combining to mak,e a splendid entertainment. The company is said to be one of the strongest yet presented, and it is further claimed that they are also most versatile. With a keen knowledge of the desires of the public, the visiting company specialise in comedy, and many diverting and intensely humorous concoctions find a place in the attractive hi» "resented l>y “The Fashion Plates.” ■ Several of the most striking comedy successes are exclusive property of the company, and these, together with the large addition of revue numbers which have proved ■successful in England and Australia, give “The Fashion Plates” a fine repertoire. As a pleasing attraction the advent of “The Fashion Plates” should prove a very welcome feature. The plan is at Collier’s.
