FARMERS’ PROBLEMS.
LAST WEEK’S CONFERENCE. At the Farmers’ Union Conference at Elthaip on Thursday, the following additional remits were dealt with: FARMERS’ POLITICAL PARTY. A remit standing in they name of the executive as follows, “thaft the advisability of the establishment of a Farmers’' Political Party be discussed,” was struck out owing to the lateness of the hour. DAIRY SCHOOL. Mr. G. H. Buckeridge moved, and Mr. Cleaver seconded, the following remit from the executive, “That the time has arrived when a dairy school should be established in the Dominion.” The remit was adopted without discussion. COST OF PRODUCTION. On behalf of the executive, Mr. E. Maxwell moved, and Mr. T. W. Owen seconded, “That a commission representative of the farmers and the Department of Agriculture be set up to obtain reliable information with the object of being able to arrive at a correct estimate of the cost of production from dairy farms, and of the value of dairy farming as a means of livelihood to the farming community and to the Dominion as a whole, and the recording of wages paid for the various services dealing with fanners’ supplies and iheir produce” The remit was adopted.
