LIBEL ACTION OVER REVUE.

FARTHING DAMAGES GIVEN. London, April 29. “At the club last night that cad Buckminster mentioned my wife’s name in connection with yours.” These words, spoken in the revue “Just Fancy” led to a libel action being instituted by Captain Herbert Buckmaster, husband of Gladys Cooper, against the author, Mr. Arthur Wimperis, alleging that the words referred to him. Captain Buckmaster gave evidence that he seriously disagreed with his wife’s friendship with a well-known actress, but did not mention with whom. He alleged that Mr. Wimperis sided in the disagreement, which led to a temporary estrangement with his wife. A farthing damages was awarded.
