MANGATOKI. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The. children's ball in aid of the school library fund proved a great success. The fancy dresses and* dancing were very effective. The net profit is about £lB. The tall, which was packed to Its utmost, is far too small for these functions. It Is to be hoped that something will be decided at the annual meeting of the Hall Committee this week to devise ways of enlarging the hall. We are all sorry to lose Miss Perrott from the school staff. She became a great favorite during her stay in Mangatoki, and before leaving was entertained at. afternoon ten by the children, and presented with a cut-glass inkstand and calendar. The Aurora Australis seen from here on Sunday evening provided “a very brilliant spectacle. Mrs. C. Ball, of Wanganui, is spending a few weeks wit!? her mother, Mrs. Astbury.
