NEW. RULES ADOPTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, May 19. At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Golf Association held on the 16th inst. It was decided that the new rules recently adopted by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, St. Andrews, regarding penalties for "out of bounds” and “lost ball,” and also with regard to the size and weight of balls, shall come into force in New Zealand as from May 1, but the council makes a recommendation to clubs that they should make a local rule permitting for the present the use of any ball in club competitions. At the next New Zealand championship tournament, however, only standard balls may be used. NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. There were twelve entries in a bogey match played on the New Plymouth Club’s links yesterday afternoon. The best scores were: G. M. Chong (hep. 1), 1 down. H. R. Bloxam (14), 1 down. A. S Hasell (8), 4 down. Dr. Wade (6). 4 down. J. Austin (8), 4 down. W. P. Nicoll (9), 4 down.
