YSABEL DAMAGED.
The Wellington-owned barquentlne Ysabel, was towed into Auckland on Sunday night in a leaky condition. The vessel loaded a cargo of cement at Whangarei last week for Auckland, taking her departure early on Thursday morning. A strong southerly breeze was blowing, which increased to a moderate gale on Friday. The Ysabel, which had previously made a little water on the voyage from New Plymouth to Whangarei, began to open up rather badly, and on Saturday morning the captain decided to put into Makatana for shelter. A tug-boat was sent for, and at 4 p.m. on Sunday the Young Bungaree took the Ysabel in tow, reaching port shortly after 10 o’clock. Since 'leaving Whangarei it was found necessary to keep the pumps manned day and night owing to her leaky condition.
