ft p.c. FREE OF INCOME TAX. DO NOT DELAY. Thousands of keen investors in ali parts of the Dominion—many in this district—have taken up the 7 J per cent, bonds issued by the N.Z. Farmers’ Coop. Association of Canterbury, Limited. This is a unique and splendid investment, and calls for prompt action. Some interesting facts about the issue are given in the following editorial quoted from the “Mercantile Gazette of New Zealand”: “The bonds are in bearer form, and have interest coupons attached. Ths rate is 7A per cent, free of income tax, and is payable half-yearly. This is tne most tempting offer that has been made to the investors since the price of money advanced, and no doubt the issue will be readily taken up. The institution has made an issue of £500,000, but is only asking for £250.000 at the present stage. Provided there is ample security behind an issue of 'bonds, the investment is a sound one. Where the amount of the bond issue is a considerable one, and the sum total of the capital of the company is limited, the proposal might not be sound. In the present instance there is paid-up capital, uncalled capital, and reserve fund, amounting to over one and a half millions, so that there seems to be ample margin. The bonds are not secured by any specific charge on the assets of the company, -but are really in the form of a ‘naked’ debenture—a new departure in company 'finance in this country. From the investor’s point of view, they rank in priority, in the case of a winding-up, to either ordinary or preferred capital, but they fare nq better or no worse than the ordinary creditor.” The association has been established for forty years, and has paid an average rate of dividend since its inception qz per cent, on its ordinary capital. Read the prospectus, or apply for bonds to any branch of the BaJik of New Zealand, any member of the Stock Exchange, or the Head Ofia Ohrktohurola.
